The European branch of Namco Bandai Games have revealed the official European box art, first screenshots (featuring some new bosses) in addition to a list of new content for their upcoming PC game, Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition. The cover confirms the game’s support for “Games for Windows Live.” You can check out the new images, as well as some older shots from the console versions, in the slideshow to the left of this article and the list of new content in the PC port below:

Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition will include an untold chapter in the world of Lordran where the player must stop the spread of darkness at all costs by facing and defeating the Dark Knight Artorias.

New Bosses – Including Artorias of Abyss, Chimera of Tomb, and more
PVP Online Matchmaking System – Quick matching for co-op or PVP
New Areas – Including Oolacile Tomb, Old Ruins and more
New Enemies – Including Abyss Guard, Chained Prisoner and more
New NPCs – Including Hawkeye Gough and more
New Weapons and Armor – Equip some from the new bosses, enemies, and NPCs

Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition is currently being developed by From Software, the same studio responsible for the console versions in addition to its spiritual predecessor, Demon’s Souls on Playstation 3. Namco Bandai Games will be releasing the action role-playing game for the PC worldwide on August 24th.

Dark Souls was first released for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America on October 4th. It is unknown if the new content from the Prepare to Die Edition will be made available to the console versions.

seems kind of lame to fix the game and repackage it as a special edition. Shaking My Head

Prepare not to die...

http://www.360magazine.co.uk/interview/dark-souls-game-director-apologises-to-console-players/

Quote :
From Software has no plans to bring the PC’s Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition, and it’s additional content, to consoles. We talk to the game director to find out why…

Prepare not to die
For Dark Souls fans hankering for a new challenge, the news that PC players will be given additional content of the notoriously difficult RPG is difficult to swallow.

Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition will arrive on PCs later in the year with a whole load of new content and From Software is adamant the additional material will not be arriving on consoles anytime soon.

In fact, it feels so bad about this Dark Souls’ game director, Hidetaka Miazaki, has come out and apologised to players of the original game…

Hidetaka Miazaki: It’s completely understandable that people who bought the original version would ask about the additional content, however, as the director of Dark Souls I cannot say right now about whether or not this content will ever be available as DLC. But, I want to emphasis my sincere apologise to those players that bought the console version that we don’t have any news for them at this point.

360: What exactly is the additional content?

Miazaki: The additional content will include approximately three-to-four new bosses and three-to-four new areas. The numbers are still undecided, but that’s the volume we are aiming for and we will also be including a new storyline. And also there will be more NPCs and more enemies. Players will also be able to wear NPC’s equipment.

360: Were these extras leftovers from the console game?

Miazaki: To be honest the idea of the new areas was designed after the game’s release. However, we did have some of them during development but no one on the team took them seriously. It was designed 99% after the game’s release. During the development of the original console version the idea’s we had were small and were thought to have a minimal impact on the overall experience, now we are able to amplify these ideas.

An apology is all well and good, but we can’t help but feel that From Software is stalling and the additional content will eventually make it to console players. We can dream, can’t we?

Very, very lame, especially since they're sticking to the "no plans for console yet" to try to get their "customers" to double dip to the tune of $60, instead of $15-30.

+69.

Is it hard to port this over to the consoles as DLC? It seems like it would sell like gangbusters.

Yes, but I assume that the additional $60 Tyrant is referring to would be for the PC game. I don't buy games for the PC. I would think there are a lot of people like me....people that they could make $15-$30 off of while they're also making money off of PC gamers....
