Is it a different Bethesda division that did Oblivion or something? Oblivion was rock solid for me the entire time I played it. Which was a lot. I mean a whole lot. I think I played it for an entire winter, at least a couple hours a day. I loved that game. Except for the fact that they only had three people do the voice overs for the entire world's population. Razz

Oblivion was not at all bad for me either....on PC. I perish the thought of getting it on PS3, mostly because I played it until it died, resurected it and killed it again on PC. The standard PS3/Bethesda issue is the freezing, especially on larger save files. I know my fallout 3 saves could be measured in gigs once I started up on the DLC and endgame stuff.

I played it on my Xbox. I am one of those people that save the game every 10 feet too. I was always scared I was going to mess up some conversation with one of the same 3 people in the whole world so I would always save frequently. Cool

I saved all the time too...probably why the files got sooooo large. See, you even got ACHEIVMENTS when you played... Mad

There was a bug when I played where you could not go out in the daylight (vampire glitch?). The cure for the vampire curse was to take some onions to some old witches shack. The bug was that after doing so you were not granted the ability to move around in the day as was intended. I stopped playing at that point because it was too tedious not to be able to move around in the day and some of the quests were dependent on daylight activity.

Dark Souls first. It's got MP. We'll see how Skyrim shakes out, but I'll grab it eventually for the single player. Probably not until next year though.

Notice that he didn't mention a lack of game-killing glitches.

Wait and See.

but this engine was built from the ground up for future Oblivion/Fallout games exclusivly, after they very quickly realized the Gamebryo engines limitations. Not making it an even Xbox/Ps3 engine would be dumb, dumb, dumb.

Bethesda QA tester beats Skyrim in just over 2 hours

By Jonathan Downin, GameSpotPosted Oct 13, 2011 5:16 pm PT

Internal speedrun competition yields 2:16:10 playtime for studio's latest sprawling Elder Scrolls fantasy RPG.

The Elder Scrolls franchise has developed a reputation for offering hours of gameplay spread across reaching open-world environments. However, for Bethesda Softworks QA tester Sam Bernstein, "hours" is just barely plural with his speedrun of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Skyrim will likely take a bit longer than two hours for everyone else.
With Skyrim closing in on its November 11 ship date, Bethesda recently held its traditional internal speedrun contest, and Bernstein took the top finishing time at 2:16:10. According to a post on Bethesda's blog, that speedrun time is about an hour longer than the top times for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Fallout 3.

Bernstein and the development team's Jeff Browne were likely candidates for the top of the speedrun charts, as they also clocked the fastest times in Bethesda's previous release, Fallout 3. Although they took totally different routes through the game, Bernstein finished a mere 20 seconds sooner than his competitor.

There are no special rules in play when it comes to these speedruns, according to the Bethesda blog. The only stipulation is that no cheats are allowed.

Sounds about right. FO3 was the same way, if you only played the main missions and didn't listen to the stories.

There's no way I could have blazed through Oblivion in just over 2 hours.

The way I play a Elder Scrolls game...it will take me 300+ hours...I do everything...and listen to everyone...and explore everywhere.

Even just the main story?

These games have always been about the side missions. FO3 could be finished super fast, but if you wandered and explored you probably put in over 120 hours!

No way. It takes you 20 minutes just to get out of the beginning jail area. Then to track down everything in the main plot line and defeat it all? No. Freakin'. Way. Robe & Wizard Hat

I have done just the Main Story on a Second play through of FO3...and it still took me like 7+ Hours of play...no sidequests...I wasnt speed running though....I watched all the dialog scenes, etc.
